I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the National Association for Student Research (OTDT)!
The national tradition of associations for student research of Hungary, the TDK, has been an essential element of Hungarian higher education for 70 years.
It is through TDK that the aspiring student has become an integral part of university research, and that the true partnership between teacher and student, master and disciple is realised. It is this culture of mentor-mentee collaboration that gives continuity across generations in our universities and colleges.
Joint results achieved in departments and with market partners are showcased at institutional and national TDK conferences. This is where the best of the student body can get the first supportive feedback on their talent, diligence and innovative thinking. This is where the first professional debates take place.
The future Hungarian intelligentsia can prepare for life here, even under sheltered conditions. It is here that they can and must learn about and face the realities of the framework within which individual careers can be built, whether in academia, the economy or any other area of society. The TDK is therefore an important training ground for the future of Hungary.
Established more than 50 years ago, the National Association for Student Research, the OTDT, has the task of maintaining this environment, providing the conditions and incentives for calm, in-depth professional work.
On behalf of OTDT and all institutional representatives of the TDK movement, I invite university students and interested high school students to join the TDK movement, to be part of and build this culture. At the same time, I call on the more than 100,000 former TDK students who today form the main threads of the fabric of Hungarian intellectuals to help us with their advice, professional and financial support.
The success of the TDK movement is one of the guarantees of the success of Hungarian higher education. Let us build this path together!
Hungary, September 2024
